Remote learning during closure/isolation is provided in line with our contingency plan (please see below).

Work is set through Google Classroom, emailed to parents or is uploaded to the class pages of the website (age group dependent - see contingency plan for full details).

The remote work we are setting reflects the sessions that would be 'normally' taught that day, follows the planned teaching sequence and matches the work of children who are being taught on site.

The planned curriculum, whether in school or remote learning, is ambitious, seeks to rapidly fill gaps in the children's knowledge and extend their learning and understanding.

We expect all children to engage fully in the work set, by:

Completing the work they are set in a timely manner
Sending work back to their teacher either through Google Classroom or via their class emails (this can be an attached photograph or an emailed document)

How is the school supporting home learning?:

We will be making regular phone calls home to speak to your children
We have a large number of Chromebooks which can be lent to children with insufficient devices at home - contact the office if you would like to borrow one
We are able to apply for data top ups for families using mobile data to support home learning - contact the office if you need support
We are able to apply for mobile wireless Internet access for your home, if you do not have broadband - contact the office if you need support

COVID Catch Up Funding

In response to the national pandemic, the government announced £1 billion of funding to support children and young people to catch up lost time after school closure. This is especially important for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds.

Castlefield School's allocation was calculated on a per pupil basis, getting £80 for each pupil from Reception to Year 6 inclusive.
