Whole School Science Week 2024

This past week Castlefield School have been detectives! Mr Kann's last biscuit was stolen!!!! It was the school's job to investigate which member of staff stole the last cookie using science to support their findings.

Each year group had a different task which begun to narrow down the list of suspects. Reception started looking at photos of staff and observing which member of staff had cookie crumbs! Year 1 studied mud samples left by the suspect's footprints meanwhile Year 2 were measuring and comparing footprints. Year 3 were investigating invisible ink whilst Year 4 were studying chromatography. Year 5 looked in detail at fingerprints whereas Year 6 studied DNA samples.

The classes posted their findings in Crime HQ and shared their thoughts with the whole school. Eventually it was Mrs James who was revealed as the cookie thief!
